NATIVE, Inc. receives $297,000 social and economic development federal grant

A Social Economic Development Grant from the Administration for Native Americans, a Division of the Administration for Children and Families of the U.S. Health & Human Services was granted to Native Community Development, Inc. (NATIVE, Inc.), a sister organization of the Native American Development Center (NADC). Payments are $297,000 annually to NATIVE, Inc. for the next three years.

The funds will be used to integrate cultural services into the Bismarck metropolitan area of North Dakota through Indigenous community-based programming, community navigation and referral services, supplies for cultural programs and rent for a community center. A Cultural Coordinator will develop and coordinate culture and family programs for Native Americans living in urban areas and two Community Navigation and Referral Coordinators will provide Native Americans with community resources, coordinated care and a supportive network needed for successful economic transition and stability by streamlining housing, employment and transportation and a sense of belonging.

The Cultural Service Integration Project will increase cultural programming coordination between public schools, agencies, and community organizations to improve successful livability and student and behavioral health outcomes amongst Native American individuals and families.

This project will design a community development model for other urban Indian communities across the country proven to help improve the lives of Native Americans living in an urban area through equitable services and opportunities to live beyond survival.

NATIVE, Inc. is a nonprofit organization in pursuant of a 501c3 designation and structured as a community development corporation based in Bismarck, North Dakota with the sole purpose of improving the lives of Native Americans through cultural connections and their values, goals, and visions.
